About First English Lutheran Church
|
|
First
English Lutheran Church
is a community of people of all ages and professions. We are
proud of the uniqueness that each member brings to our community.
We come from many different backgrounds and experiences. Bound
to one another by the faith which our Lord has given to us,
we are eager to receive both visitors and new members into
our Christian family.
The
Mission of First English Lutheran Church
is to proclaim the Word of God and the Love of Jesus Christ
to all people through our ministry of worshiping, preaching,
teaching and caring.
First English
is a "Reconciling-in-Christ"
community. We publicly affirm God’s love for people
of all sexual orientations and gender identities and openly
encourage all of our members to participate fully in the everyday
life of the congregation.
We are united in Christ, diverse in people, called by the
Spirit, equipping the people of God to be instruments of God's
love.

First English Lutheran
Church was organized in 1936, and since 1939 our home has been the
Spanish Mission style building on 30th street. In our early years
most of our members lived in Central Austin. Since Austin has grown
we have now become a community-wide church, with our members coming
from all over the city, and some from as far away as Round Rock,
Pflugerville, Manor, Cedar Creek, Manchaca and Dripping Springs.
